day 2 in aussie
day 2 in melbs saw us meeting bubs' mother and brother who were in sydney and they drove like 2d2n all the way down to melbourne lol what a long drive, all 1400km of it. bubs and i woke up bright and early and decided to walk to prahran market to check it out. fresh produce and lots of random food stalls hahaha it's all so colourful and doesnt smell like wet markets here do. got into the car and then went off to hammer and tong for brunch. met uncle yen, who is auntie's childhood friend hahahaha. initial plan was to go to yarra valley and dandenong ranges but we decided to go to sovereign hill instead. it is an old gold mine which has since been turned into a museum. took many more photos while we were there but decided not to spam this post lol. went to try my hand at gold sifting at the river, apparently there are real nuggets of gold to be found?!?!?! :O well i tried but then failed hahaha sian and it was drizzling too so i was working hard under the rain! so cold and windy! bad day!!! went to watch the gold pour after that, saw 3 kg worth of molten gold poured into a moulding tin. also saw candle making and tried old school bowling hahah the ball was freaking heavy. spent our whole afternoon there. they also have a chinese temple there for the chinese immigrants! went to uncle yen's place to look see. he lives in a typical melbourne suburb, exactly like what you see on tv lol. and he bought the land and designed his house. simple but really cosy. for dinner, we went to richmond's oysters. auntie bought all of us dinner and i am really thankful for it. was quite a costly meal IMO that is why i spammed pictures of dinner hahahahaha. we had lots of food. oysters, scallops, seafood chowder, pear rocket pine salad, mussels in a pot and our individual dinner portions; fresh catch of the day! swordfish , salmon, toothfish and also crayfish pasta. hahah we were really full and stuffed after dinner. everyone went back and we headed to crown casino!!!! :D ok thats the end.
